Traning Issues & Topics

  • NWDTP Update

    17 July 2019

    Attention all Uniformed Staff,

If you are not aware of the changes occurring in training, let me be the first to let you know.  FPS will no longer be conducting the NWDTP training. James Speights, David Williams IV, Bobby Morgan, and myself have all attended the instructor class at FLETC (Georgia) and will be transitioning the responsibility of the class to our in-house staff.  All uniformed staff that work screening posts will be affected by these changes.  That being said, there will be numerous changes that need to be addressed.1) All uniformed staff will attend a new 16 hour or 8 hour class (Post Specific)2) All uniformed staff will have 2 hours on the job training every 60 days3) All screening posts will have a SOAR report done on them every 60 days4) No more yearly 8 hour refresher classes5) A card will be issued to uniformed staff with sign off boxes to log OJT

There are plenty more changes that will be addressed during each class given.  With these changes and additional responsibilities, some housekeeping items need to be made clear up front.  There will no longer be any excuses for our performance on post with NWDTP. We own it and we will be better than we were before.  There will no longer be any “Short” classes. While we all appreciated FPS giving us some flex time,Triple Canopy will not.  We cannot afford to.  All scheduled time will be used for this training, no questions asked.  While in training, James, Bobby, and David are your supervisors. It does not matter what rank a person holds on post, in the training room these individuals are in charge.

As always, I appreciate each and every one of you.  Do not get discouraged with this change, be happy.  You will finally get the training on NWDTP you should have always had.

If there are any questions or concerns that need to be addressed, please contact me or James Speights.

    Thank you

    Rob Hammetter, Training Manager
